Service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We had the fried green tomatoes, pork chops, oysters, and their special soup for the day. This is such a hidden gem in the heart of West Ashley! More

Wednesdays is Betty Lou Bistro day for us because we're usually in West Ashley. We live the food, prices, and service. We started with one of our favorites: the pimento goat cheese. Still delicious although not as creamy as in the past. Today I had the shrimp scampi. The linguini was perfect and they was plenty of shrimp in the white wine, butter, and garlic sauce. My wife had her usual half size fried shrimp platter. Frankly, there's so much food on the half size I don't think even I could finish a full size. With two glasses of ice tea the book came to $73.

The most amazing cuisine! Everything was perfect. We stumbled upon this place and are happy we did. Both The Chicken Ciabatta sandwich and the Bistro Burger were perfectly balanced in flavor. We opted to substitute our fries with the truffle fries which is accompanied by a parmesan and garlic aioli. To end this amazing late lunch, we had to have the Banana pudding with a banana caramel puree! Wow just Wow!
Our server Daniel was laid back, friendly and he made the experience that much better when he brought us the banana cream soda that he heard us talking about.
Do not miss out on this gem!

Well worth the stop to support local owners. Good menu for the smaller size of the restaurant. Quaint atmosphere. Don't be afraid to sit at the community table if their seats available.
My friend had the steak sandwich which was cut from tenderloin filet trimmings and he enjoyed it and the truffle fries. I ordered the scallops. They were cooked just right but they added salt and the salt was overwhelming. The scallop dish could use some presentation color. Very bland presentation. Sprinkle some color on the plate rim or add color other than sprinkles of parsley on the starch?
They were just opening and the service started off pretty poorly with very little communication and she clearly did not want to engage us in any particular way. She was able to recover with some better service throughout the meal.
Stop by and support local owners!

Betty Lou’s Bistro is a wonderful hidden gem in the West Ashley part of Charleston. The food there is amazing. I’ve had many items from their menu, most recently the sea scallops. They just melted in my mouth, making me wish the meal would never end. I had to personally thank the chef Candace for one of my best meals ever.
The service there is impeccable. Heidi provides the right balance between attentiveness and letting me dine, and her recommendations have never let me down.
I strongly recommend this restaurant to both locals and visitors alike wanting to experience one of Charleston’s great restaurants for both their food and their service.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a very casual atmosphere. I would say the fried green tomatoes, grapefruit spritzer, and the dessert were my faves. I had the scallops dish, and it was good, but not as good as the other offerings I had, even though it was more expensive.

Quaint, comfy, a local favourite for sure. The chef did sear the scallops correctly, uneven, but the flavour was outstanding and the risotto was cooked to perfection. They didn’t shy away from the mushrooms, which was appreciated and enjoyed! If that pan was just a hair hotter; it would have been perfect. I enjoyed the vines on the ceiling, a nice touch.
